Iona’s Song of the Week - No 08.

Iona’s Song of the Week comes from a band formed in 1994, and about whom I know very little, although we had heard their name! This song, called Uprising, comes from their 5th album, The Resistance, released in 2009. The lyrics are what drew me to them…..

I think that it would be fair to say that these lads from Teignmouth in Devon were ahead of the game when they wrote this song! Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard (MB: vocals, keyboards and guitar, CW: bass and backing vocals, DH: drums) form a tight unit indeed. In fact, during the hiatus period of the early 2020s, while most of us were mesmerised by daily death counts, these lads had their first of seven consecutive UK No 1s! That album was Absolution (2003).

Needless to say, we here at Iona Cali will be giving these guys a fair hearing from now on!
